Coal Ridge is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Aspen is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Coal Ridge Titans will take on the Aspen Skiers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coal Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Aspen is ranked 30th).
Last Saturday, Coal Ridge came up short against Basalt and fell 50-39.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ben Simons, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Lochlan Wade was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Aspen can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They breezed by Vail Mountain at home to the tune of 52-25. 52 seems to be a good number for Aspen as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Aspen got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Henry Hurd out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Franceschi, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Coal Ridge now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Aspen, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
Coal Ridge barely slipped by Aspen in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 42-41. Does Coal Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Aspen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
