Brighton and Prairie View are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will welcome the Thunderhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Brighton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Northglenn as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Nolan Engle was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Nick Griffin was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Brighton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northglenn only posted an OBP of .278.
Meanwhile, Prairie View waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Panthers. The Thunderhawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jerry Stone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Stone was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Jael Peralta was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Romani Perez, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Prairie View pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brighton, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brighton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Prairie View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brighton came up short against Prairie View in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
