Connersville is 1-7 against Shelbyville since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Spartans will host the Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Shelbyville will be up against a hot Connersville squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. The Spartans' pitchers stepped up to hand Batesville a 17-0 shutout on Monday.
Jade Green made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Maggie Spurlock and Taylynn Selby did most of the damage at the plate: Spurlock went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Selby went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Selby a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carmen Ruble, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Connersville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Batesville only posted an OBP of .235.
Meanwhile, Shelbyville came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Woodmen as they made off with a 14-2 win.
Gracie Crafton spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Shelbyville got a massive performance out of Addison Stieneker, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Anna Shearer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Connersville pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Shelbyville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Connersville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .424. However, it's not like Shelbyville struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Connersville suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Shelbyville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Spartans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
