The Meridian Hawks pushed their score all the way to 75 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The game between them and Clinton wasn't particularly close, with Meridian falling 89-75. While losing is never fun, Meridian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Maroons are ranked 73rd).
When it comes to explaining why Meridian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sebastian Hill. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points. Colton Denny was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Meridian and nudges their season record down to 14-11. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 22-3.
Meridian and the Raiders will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Clinton, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m.
