Community Christian might have lost, but man, Brody Back was a machine: he went 9 of 13 on his way to 22 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. Back is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Fagan, who posted seven points and seven steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Suburban Christian beat Crosspointe Christian Academy 58-54 on Thursday.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Chad Glover and Coltenn Wagner. Glover had a solid game and earned 14 points along with eight boards and four steals. Meanwhile, Wagner was balling out in the loss, going 8 for 17 en route to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.
Suburban Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Community Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Community Christian has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Suburban Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
