The Laneville Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Neches Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Laneville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
After a string of 13 wins, Laneville's good fortune finally ran out. They fell 57-48 to Wells.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jamorian Williams, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last 11 games he's played. De'Marea Lewis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 19-19 at halftime, Neches was not quite Slocum's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs.
Laneville's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-13. Neches' record now sits at 16-12.
Everything came up roses for Laneville against Neches in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 74-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laneville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
