The Apache Junction Prospectors''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 47-20 loss at the hands of Snowflake. Apache Junction was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Snowflake apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Apache Junction lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aiden Deleon. Despite the final result, he rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Snowflake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jett McCray, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns. McCray was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Another player making a difference was Kanton Turley, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Apache Junction's defeat was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Bradshaw Mountain and 9-3 Prescott (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.9% over those games). As for Snowflake, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Apache Junction will head out on the road to face off against Eastmark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastmark will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Snowflake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
