Baseball Recap: Greeneview Wins Going Away Against Catholic Central

Greeneview had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Catholic Central on Saturday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Irish. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jaden Van Tress was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Elliott Zimmet also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Greeneview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive matches.

Greeneview's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Catholic Central, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Greeneview is set to square off against their familiar foe Madison Plains at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.6, the Golden Eagles 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Catholic Central will take on rival Southeastern Local at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
