The Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles won the last time they faced the Denmark-Olar Vikings, and things went their way on Saturday too. Gray Collegiate Academy walked away with a 45-35 victory over Denmark-Olar.
Gray Collegiate Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Karlee Phelps out in front who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Raina Mayers, who scored 8 points.
Despite the loss, Denmark-Olar had strong showings from Ry'Naisha Barnes, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds, and Aveion Walker, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Walker scored a full 28.6% of Denmark-Olar's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amuria Wright, who scored 4 points.
The victory got Gray Collegiate Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Denmark-Olar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gray Collegiate Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. As for Denmark-Olar, they will head out on the road to face off against Andrew Jackson Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
