The Cumberland Dukes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 56-46 win over Nottoway. That 56-46 margin sets a new team best for Cumberland this season.
Despite the loss, Nottoway saw an underclassman step up: Anton Carter Jr. dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. The game was Carter Jr.'s third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendreyeus Johnson, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Nottoway were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory got Cumberland back to even at 2-2. As for Nottoway, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Cumberland will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Louisa County on December 30th. As for Nottoway, they will head out on the road to face off against Buckingham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
