Basketball Recap: Shae Heiden's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ponderosa over Mesa Ridge

On Friday, the Ponderosa Mustangs came up short against the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies and fell 41-31. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ponderosa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shae Heiden, who posted 14 points. Heiden is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Whitney Webb was another key player, putting up four points.

Mesa Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Warriax, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Roxanna Ambuul, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points.

Ponderosa now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Mesa Ridge, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Ponderosa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-33 loss against Glenwood Springs on the 7th. As for Mesa Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-41 defeat against Silver Creek on the 7th.
