The Notre Dame Catholic Lancers lost against the New Milford Green Wave back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Notre Dame Catholic fell to the Green Wave 41-37. While losing is never fun, Notre Dame Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Green Wave are ranked 19th).
Notre Dame Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kendra Mitacek, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Mitacek continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Niah Africot, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Notre Dame Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 14 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Notre Dame Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for New Milford, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
Notre Dame Catholic will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kolbe-Cathedral will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for New Milford, they will be playing at home against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
