The Morrill Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Minatare 64-36 at home. Morrill has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 25 points or more this season.
Leading Morrill to victory were Pittman Ashwin and Wyler Fisher. Ashwin scored 18 points along with three steals and three blocks, while Fisher scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Fisher also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Ryder Green was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Despite the defeat, Minatare saw an underclassman step up: Hunter Poor Bear scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
The victory (which was Morrill's third in a row) raised their record to 8-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Minatare, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Morrill will be playing in front of their home fans against Sioux County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sioux County is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Minatare, they will head out on the road to challenge Leyton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Leyton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday.
