St. Edward is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Chicago Hope Academy a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The St. Edward Green Wave will host Chicago Hope Academy at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, St. Edward turned things around against Harvest Christian Academy on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Lions. With that victory, the Green Wave brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Alaina Nolan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, St. Edward got a massive performance out of Kendall Pemberton, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Sarah Gurley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
St. Edward was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Chicago Hope Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Aurora Christian on Monday and fell 17-16.
Isa Medina was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
The win got St. Edward back to even at 13-13. As for Chicago Hope Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Edward has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chicago Hope Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Edward was able to grind out a solid victory over Chicago Hope Academy when the teams last played back in April, winning 6-3. Will the Green Wave repeat their success, or do Chicago Hope Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
