Baseball Recap: Western Branch Extends Winning Streak to Five

Western Branch had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Oscar Smith Tigers on Thursday. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Ian Taylor's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Adams, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Markel Smith, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Western Branch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oscar Smith struck out seven times.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Western Branch, bringing their record up to 17-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Oscar Smith, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Western Branch nor Oscar Smith have any future games scheduled.
