The Kinkaid Falcons will square off against the Cooper Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Kinkaid sitting on six straight wins and Cooper on seven.
On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kinkaid beat Episcopal 28-24. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Knights are ranked 290th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Cooper got the win against Episcopal School of Dallas on Friday by a conclusive 55-31. Considering the Dragons have won five contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kinkaid better keep an eye on Eric Sipko. He was instrumental in Cooper's win, picking up 153 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, Sipko is now averaging an impressive 103.9 receiving yards per game.
Cooper was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 244 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cooper's defensive line and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Luke Horak was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Cooper's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Kinkaid, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Kinkaid has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 189.5 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Cooper has preferred to attack from the air: they average 276.6 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Everything came up roses for Kinkaid against Cooper in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 39-7 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
