The Unionville Longhorns will face off against the Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Unionville will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Kennett on Thursday. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Blue Demons. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Blue Demons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Peyton Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Unionville let Addison Smith and Gracie Brun run wild. Smith went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Brun went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shannon Megill, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Unionville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Marple Newtown waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 16-4 victory.
Ava Kelly looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Grace Corner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Kirsten Adams was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Marple Newtown's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Unionville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Unionville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Marple Newtown struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
