Basketball Recap: Wake Prep Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Wake Prep Academy extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 10-3. They had just enough and edged out the American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots 36-33. That's more bragging rights for the Guardians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Wake Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shawn Amadike led the charge by putting up eight points. Another player making a difference was Jermiah Hargrove, who posted seven points.

As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while Wake Prep Academy is ranked 171st).

Despite the loss, American Leadership Academy-Johnston still got an impressive performance from Ben Allen, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards. The Patriots are 4-2 when Allen posts ten or more rebounds, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Rollins, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Wake Prep Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Louisburg at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 48-34 loss against Roanoke Rapids on the 28th.
