The Arizona College Prep Knights had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They secured a 57-52 W over Combs. That's another feather in the cap for Arizona College Prep, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johnathon Byaus, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The game was Byaus' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kamren Dubose, who scored 12 points along with seven assists.
Arizona College Prep pushed their record up to 15-3 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Combs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arizona College Prep will take on Poston Butte at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Poston Butte has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 212 points over their last three matchups. Combs will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Eastmark at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Eastmark is ranked 102nd, while Combs is ranked 114th).
