Even though the Standley Lake Gators have not done well against the Golden Demons recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Standley Lake strolled past Golden with points to spare, taking the game 61-46. The win made it back-to-back wins for Standley Lake.
Standley Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Titus Schrecengost out in front who scored 19 points along with five assists and four steals. Schrecengost is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Derrek Sims, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Several Demons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Slade Pike, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Leif Hansen, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Standley Lake is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Golden, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-7.
Standley Lake will take on Alameda at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Golden, they will head out on the road to face off against Conifer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Conifer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Saturday.
