After a string of five wins, the Lafayette Rams's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Grafton by a score of 59-57. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lafayette has scored all season.
Lafayette lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jarquez Garrett, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The game was Garrett's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Asa Fehrenbach, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Lafayette's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2. As for Grafton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Lafayette will be playing in front of their home fans against Bruton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bruton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. Grafton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Jamestown at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Jamestown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 315th, while Grafton is ranked 31st).
