Vernon took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Altha, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vernon Yellowjackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Altha Wildcats on Friday. With that victory, the Yellowjackets brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Colton Glover, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Vernon's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11. As for Altha, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vernon will head out to challenge Ponce De Leon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Altha will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bethlehem at 6:00 p.m. on March 24th.
