The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 92-73 bruising from Jay. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (58), L.E.A.D. Academy still had to take the loss.
L.E.A.D. Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Holcomb, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holcomb has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Evan Lanasa, who scored 16 points.
L.E.A.D. Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Jay pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Ethan Mcdonald, who scored 30 points along with nine assists and five rebounds for Jay. That's the first time this season that Mcdonald posted eight or more assists. Mason Allen was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
L.E.A.D. Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Jay, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. L.E.A.D. Academy will take on Gulf Pointe Latin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Gulf Pointe Latin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday. As for Jay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Destin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Destin is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.2 points per game.
