Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Penfield). They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Brighton Bruins on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Bruins last Friday, they had to take a 10-5 loss.
Patrick Emling made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Penfield is 2-1 when Emling posts two or more runs, but 6-14 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jacob Natale was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Matt Scibienski was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
The win (which was Penfield's third in a row) raised their record to 8-15. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Looking ahead, Penfield will head out on the road to face off against Webster Thomas at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. Brighton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
