The Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sumner Academy 68-0 at home. Considering Shawnee Heights has won four matchups by more than 39 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Shawnee Heights had a senior duo take command as Allen Baughman rushed for 100 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries and Ryeki Tuley threw for 181 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. Baughman hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Aiden Scott, who threw for 55 yards and a touchdown while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Shawnee Heights' win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.8 points per game. As for Sumner Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-5.
Shawnee Heights will head out on the road to face off against Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games. Sumner Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
