After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Susquehanna Township, South Western was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed past the Dover Eagles to the tune of 45-13. The Mustangs pushed the score to 38-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.
South Western was led to victory by Wyatt Carbaugh and Anthony Frazier. Carbaugh rushed for 73 yards and two TDs on only seven carries, while Frazier rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Those 95 rushing yards gave Frazier a new career-high. South Western also got help from Jacob Graham, who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.
South Western didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blake McMillion and Brooklyn Calcutt. Calcutt got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The win got South Western back to even at 1-1. As for Dover, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Coming up, South Western will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against New Oxford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dover, they will head out on the road to take on Conestoga Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
