If the Walter Northway Warriors were riding high off their 68-36 takedown of the Minto Lakers on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Walter Northway had to suffer through a rough 71-33 loss at the hands of Fort Yukon. Walter Northway lost against Fort Yukon in their previous head to head on Thursday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 76-52 score last time.
Fort Yukon found their leader in underclassman Jane Ward, who scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Nellie Ward, who scored 13 points.
Walter Northway now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Fort Yukon, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Walter Northway will head out on the road to face off against Susitna Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Susitna Valley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. Fort Yukon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
