Christian Stefankis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Sawyer Chaffee was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. August Lichtner also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, South Side entered their tilt with Brentwood on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 5-0.
Brentwood's batters probably weren't too happy with Carter Wilson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up two walks). Wilson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rj Fisher, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Andrew Corfield was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Western Beaver's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for South Side, their record now sits at 10-5-1.
Western Beaver suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to South Side in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
