Hatton and Lawrence County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Hatton Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Lawrence County Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Hatton unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. Their rough 64-40 defeat to Lexington might stick with them for a while.
Meanwhile, Lawrence County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 73-30 loss at the hands of West Point. While losing is never fun, Lawrence County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while West Point is ranked 69th).
Despite the loss, Lawrence County had strong showings from Kylie Graham, who scored six points along with three steals, and Ava Boyll, who scored six points. Graham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.
Hatton's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Lawrence County, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-8 record last season and are now at 2-8.
Hatton didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Lawrence County when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 43-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hatton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
