Callahan O'Connor made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jacob Lotz was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dom Panozzo, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Bishop McNamara always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora Christian only posted an OBP of .381.
Timothy Christian hit St. Edward with a four-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Green Wave lost 10-3 to the Trojans. The loss continues a trend for the Green Wave in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost nine in a row.
Aiden Burchill made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.
St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Bishop McNamara, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
St. Edward's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Bishop McNamara has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for St. Edward, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Bishop McNamara keep running through batters, or will the Green Wave buck the trend?
