Green Canyon let Bailey Taylor and Kylie Olson run wild. Taylor went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Olson went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Olson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenley Cleland, who went 2-for-5 with four runs and three RBI.
Green Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of 14 wins, Bear River's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Bountiful by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.
Kate Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bear River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Dougals, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Bear River's defeat dropped their record down to 21-2. As for Green Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Green Canyon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
