Softball Recap: Baldwyn's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Baldwyn brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on the Tremont Eagles with a sharp 16-2 victory on Thursday. Considering the Bearcats have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabee Lee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since March 3rd. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Caroline Craven was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since March 1st. Jana Claire Collins was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Baldwyn lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

With the win, Baldwyn broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for Tremont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Baldwyn Bearcats take on Walnut Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Baldwyn's pitchers better be ready for this one: Walnut has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Tremont, they will square off against Thrasher at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
