Mayfield is 8-2 against Flintridge Prep since October of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Cubs will square off against the Wolves at 5:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Mayfield didn't have quite enough to beat Polytechnic and fell 3-2.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Mayfield sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 14-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Flintridge Prep entered their tilt with Chadwick on Friday with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. They put the hurt on the Dolphins with a sharp 3-0 victory.
Flintridge Prep not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Chadwick between 14 and 17 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.
Mayfield better keep an eye on Kaitlin Ransford. She was instrumental in Flintridge Prep's win, getting 12 digs. That's the most digs Ransford has posted since back in August.
Flintridge Prep was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matchups.
Mayfield has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season. As for Flintridge Prep, their record is now 20-2.
Mayfield came up short against Flintridge Prep when the teams last played back in September, falling 3-1. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
