After a string of six wins, the Leggett Pirates's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 68-43 walloping at the hands of Brookeland. Leggett was down 61-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Leggett lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Joshua Perkins, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Perkins posted two or more blocks. Jace Railey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Leggett's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-8. As for Brookeland, their win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-7.
Leggett will head out on the road to square off against Burkeville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brookeland, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against High Island at 6:00 p.m. Brookeland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully High Island likes a good challenge.
