4A Region 8 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Timpview extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 8 this week by beating Orem, 34-12. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Thunderbirds.
The Tigers' dynamic duo of Taylor Camp and Nolan Gray proved tough for Timpview to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Camp threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns and Gray had 123 yards receiving. Quin Ringer helped Orem's passing attack out by catching two balls for 48 yards.
Tyler Day made the biggest impact on defense this week as Timpanogos bested Mountain View. The 6-foot-3 senior grabbed one sack.
Cole Casper was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 112 yards on 13 carries as Maple Mountain lost to Cary Whittingham's team. Teammate Kj Hall added to the ground attack by rushing for 87 yards.
Tyler Anderson's team's Camp and Gray have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Camp has thrown for 2033 yards this season, while Gray has 45 catches for 881 yards. Hall from the Golden Eagles leads the league in rushing with 704 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Region 8 this week will be when the Timberwolves take on Maple Mountain. Timpanogos is currently in second, while Brad Burtenshaw's team is in third.
The Golden Eagles led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Provo. Hall threw for 101 yards and one touchdown and caught four passes for 51 yards in the win.
