Softball Game Preview: Skyline Eagles vs. Highland Rams

Skyline has gone a perfect 10-0 against Highland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Rams at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Skyline's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Woods Cross as they made off with a 12-0 win.

Isabella Rasmussen and Maya Jacobsen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rasmussen tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jacobsen pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rasmussen has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Rasmussen went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Jacobsen went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Bella Waters was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Isabelle Rupp was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Skyline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highland). They put the hurt on Provo with a sharp 25-14 victory on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Highland's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Skyline, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12.

Skyline was able to grind out a solid win over Highland in their previous matchup back in March, winning 8-3. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
