The Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders are ranked highly in their home state, and on Monday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Bishop Gorman Gaels. Monsignor Scanlan walked away with a 64-56 victory over Bishop Gorman. Monsignor Scanlan's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Several Gaels players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaliah Spaight, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Addysen Carr, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Bishop Gorman were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Monsignor Scanlan's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Bishop Gorman, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
Monsignor Scanlan will be staying on the road on December 28th to face off against South Shore on December 28th. Bishop Gorman won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Basic at 1:15 p.m. on December 19th. Basic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Bishop Gorman is ranked third).
