The Notre Dame Prep Saints and the Higley Knights will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Notre Dame Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 557 points over their last eight contests.
In what's become a running theme this season, Notre Dame Prep gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Cactus Shadows 59-35. Given Notre Dame Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Cactus Shadows is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ava Pautz, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Nowak, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Higley was able to grind out a solid victory over Mountain Pointe on Thursday, taking the game 58-46.
Notre Dame Prep pushed their record up to 20-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Higley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-7.
Notre Dame Prep strolled past Higley when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 51-34. Will Notre Dame Prep repeat their success, or does Higley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
