The McLane Highlanders will head out on the road to challenge the Fresno Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully McLane focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
On Saturday, McLane lost to Hoover at home by a decisive 71-52 margin. McLane has not had much luck with Hoover recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, McLane had strong showings from Cedric Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and James Brown, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Hughes has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaye Din Turner, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Fresno unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Roosevelt by a score of 56-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Fresno has suffered yet this season.
McLane's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Fresno, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
McLane strolled past Fresno in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 59-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for McLane since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
