After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glenwood, the Hooper Academy Colts were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 40-32 victory over Sparta Academy. For Hooper Academy, this counts as revenge for the 54-29 defeat Sparta Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2022.
Despite the loss, Sparta Academy had strong showings from Krisalyn Johnson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds, and Mary Trainham Brock, who scored nine points along with three steals. Brock also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Hooper Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Sparta Academy, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.
Hooper Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Evangel Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Sparta Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Edgewood Academy at 3:00 p.m. on December 15th. Edgewood Academy will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
