It was a good run, but the Valley View Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a serious blow against Vela, falling 88-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley View in their matchups with Vela: they've now lost seven in a row.
Vela's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ej Avelar, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Axel Garza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Valley View's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Vela, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5.
Valley View will be home for the holidays to greet Sharyland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vela, they will head out on the road to face off against Rowe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rowe is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
