Lake Worth hasn't had much luck against Kennedale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bullfrogs will welcome the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Lake Worth has given up an average of 45 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lake Worth is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Castleberry on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bullfrogs took a blow against the Lions, falling 50-13. The Bullfrogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.
Lake Worth's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lucas Davis, who threw for 244 yards and one touchdown, and Eddie Paige, who picked up 52 receiving yards and one score.
Meanwhile, Kennedale came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wolves 48-21. With the Wildcats ahead 27-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Lake Worth better keep an eye on Riley Bingham. He was instrumental in Kennedale's win, rushing for 319 yards and six TDs while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. Those 319 rushing yards gave Bingham a new career-high. Kennedale also got a significant boost from Brian Cox, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Kennedale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 474 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 228 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Kennedale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bingham and Landon Watkins. Bingham also punched in six rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Kennedale is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Another thorn in Ranchview's side was Kyler Winans, who made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass.
Lake Worth's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Kennedale, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
