The American Patriots will be playing at home against the Sunset Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. American's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Sunset's offense will have their work cut out for Sunset.
Last Monday, American earned a 38-26 win over Miami Springs.
It was another big night for Lajahnique Olive, who scored 17 points along with five steals and four blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of American's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Pena, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sunset struggled with assists on Monday (Braddock had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sunset was dealt a 52-19 defeat at the hands of Braddock. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sunset has scored all season.
Sunset's loss came about despite a quality game from Alyssa Torrech, who scored nine points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Torrech.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Sunset struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory got American back to even at 2-2. As for Sunset, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Wednesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: American have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sunset struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 35.3 rebounds per game. Given American's sizeable advantage in that area, Sunset will need to find a way to close that gap.
American might still be hurting after the 49-26 defeat they got from Sunset when the teams last played back in January. Will American have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
