Cooper, a freshman, has more than 50 tackles and has come up with a trio of blocked kicks on the year.
C.J., a junior, leads the team in tackles and recovered two fumbles to halt drives in the first half on Saturday.
On the very next play after his first fumble recovery, senior quarterback
Cole Welliver, a UConn pledge, tossed one of his six touchdowns as junior
Brady Janusek hauled it in.
Janusek caught another touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Fellow juniors
Jaylon Hawkins and
Quinton Brown also caught two touchdowns each.
Liberty Christian took down Bishop Dunne (Dallas) and Grace Community (Tyler) in the first two rounds of the playoffs by a combined score of 105-7. Junior running back
Chase Garnett dominated with the rock in his hands by rushing for four touchdowns in the first win, and three touchdowns in the second win against Bishop Dunne. In that game, C.J. Witten also recovered a fumble that he returned 14 yards for a touchdown.
Jason Witten now has a career record of 25-10 after finishing off a 17-year NFL career with the Cowboys and Raiders.
