Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Madison Patriots, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Reidsville on Friday, falling 58-0. While losing is never fun, Madison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Reidsville is ranked 77th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Reidsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than AL Lee, who threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Lee has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Jariel Cobb was in the mix too, providing Reidsville with two touchdowns.
Madison's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 2-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.2 points per game. As for Reidsville, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Madison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Reidsville will be playing at home against West Stokes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
