The Green Valley Gators came into Wednesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took their matchup on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 56-16 win over Doral Academy Red Rock. The victory was just what Green Valley needed coming off of a 60-34 loss in their prior game.
Gianessa Vazquez went supernova for Green Valley, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vazquez has scored all season. Jazmine Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six steals.
Green Valley's victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-19. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Valley is on the road again on Friday and plays the Skyhawks at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Silverado is ranked 81st, while the Gators are ranked 83rd). As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
