The Jones County Coyotes waltzed into their match Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Burke by a score of 61-53. This was payback for Jones County, who suffered a 47-42 loss the last time these two teams met.
Jones County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gunnar Whitney out in front who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Kaden Kinsley was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Jones County's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Burke, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Jones County and Wessington Springs will round out the year against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Wessington Springs is ranked 42nd, while Jones County is ranked 59th).
