After flying high against the Hicksville Comets last Thursday, the Freeport Red Devils came back down to earth. Freeport took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Uniondale on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Freeport in their matchups with Uniondale: they've now lost four in a row.
Loss or not, Freeport got some senior leadership from Elijah Darby who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks and Jevon Saul who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Darby is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Freeport's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-8. As for Uniondale, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
Freeport will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Oceanside at 12:00 p.m. Oceanside and Freeport are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Uniondale will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hempstead at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hempstead has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 715 points over their last 11 contests.
