After flying high against the Claxton Tigers last Friday, the Screven County Gamecocks came back down to earth. Screven County fell 30-17 to Metter on Friday. Screven County has not had much luck with Metter recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Gatlin Scott threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns. TaCorey Grant was his top target, picking up 72 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Abram Hilton gained 74 total yards and a touchdown.
Metter found their leader in underclassman Michael Ricks, who rushed for 190 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also threw for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Ricks was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarreon Morgan, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Screven County's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Metter, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.
Screven County will head out on the road to face off against Dublin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Dublin's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for Metter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Swainsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
