The Los Altos Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Lincoln Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Los Altos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Los Altos is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since March 27th on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Mountain View.
Chloe Caldbeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makayla Mase, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Neal, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lincoln entered their tilt with Hill on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 18-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Eva Vasquez looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Olivia Diaz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lincoln pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Los Altos, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Los Altos came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln when the teams last played back in March of 2017, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
